About Acadiana Brain Injury Center

The philosophy of Acadiana Brain Injury Center recognizes that individuals with Acquired Brain Injury experience lasting changes in physical, cognitive, communicative and psycho-social abilities and that these changes affect all areas of life function.  We feel that these individuals have a right to pursue a quality of life which includes working toward achieving the highest level of participation in family, community, leisure and work / educational activities.  We believe that these individuals have the right to be treated with dignity and respect, to be involved in decisions that affect their lives, participate in a safe but least restrictive environment, and to risk with appropriate support.

 

Our responsibilities are to provide a safe, structured environment to meet the functional rehabilitation needs of those adults participating in ABIC that is economic and cost effective, without regard to national origin, race, political or religious belief.  We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care with compassion and respect for each person served in order to enhance quality of life.

 

Our program is structured and active at all times.  Through each step, qualified staff members provide positive role models, working side-by-side with participants, concentrating on the gradual completion of more challenging tasks, and building each individual's sense of accomplishment and self-esteem.  Each treatment plan is supervised to ensure the most appropriate level of treatment, communication, discharge planning and follow-up care.  Our team approach is such to focus on returning the participants to the highest level of functioning possible, while emphasizing strengths and accommodating unique needs.  The participants receive therapy from a certified and licensed staff consisting of a Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Physical Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor, Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist and Case Manager.
